CAR HISTORY

I was in western Idaho in the fall of 1974 and was told there was a used Malloy chassis for sale. I went and looked at it and it was in bad condition. It had been raced on the CAMRA circut for 2 or 3 years and had been trashed. The last race was at Bonneville Raceway in Salt Lake City Utah in August of 1974. It had been wrecked and the whole right front corner had been torn off along with the right side damage. I bought it and hauled it back to my shop in Blackfoot Idaho. That winter I repaired the frame and built new body panels. I painted the body red and the frame silver. The summer of 1975 I raced it in Pocatello and a few times in Salt Lake and at the Super Oval in Boise. It was fast when it was handling well but sometimes we could not get the handling right. The winter of 1975 and 1976 I repaired the side farings installed them and repainted the frame blue and the body silver. I raced mostly at the Super Oval in Boise and locally at Pocatello. In August I went to the CAMRA Race at Bonneville Raceway in Salt Lake City. I tried to tear down the wall in the feature and took the right front corner off of it again. They said I hit the same place on the track that the car hit 2 years before. I broke 7 ribs and spent some time in West Valley Memorial Hospital. That ended my racing for 1976. I repaired the frame a couple of years later but have never put it back together. I am planning on restoring it circa 1976 as soon as The Golden Rocket is completed.
